Notoriously Morbid January 2019 Mystic Monthly

This month begins a new year of Notoriously Morbid's Mystic monthly subscription, and a new theme! The theme for this year the the original Penny Dreadful stories, which where small stories, mostly horror themed, which were sold in weekly installments for a penny. This month, it is based on the story about Varney the Vampire!

Every month this subscription comes with a full sized mystic matte lipstick, and one other full sized lip products. Both of which are exclusive to the subscription. The cost is $12 a month domestic, and $18 a month international, both of these prices include shipping.

Varney is described as "A Cranberry mystic matte with a slight shimmer. Flavored red velvet cake". I have very dry lips, and I have found that this liquid lipstick formula is much more wearable for me than others. It is matte so it will still be drying, but I only get slight drying with this formula.
This month the other product was a "sinister sprite" which is a tinted lip balm. Called Feast of Blood, it is described as "A red lip tint with silver green shimmer. flavored fig.".

Here is are swatches of Varney on top and Feast of Blood on the bottom. More info on Varney is down below. Feast of blood is my perfect "my lips but better" shade, and will be perfect for little or no makeup days to give my lips a little bit of color. I do see more silver shimmer than green shimmer when I am wearing it though. I think this shows in the above swatch, and I actually think I prefer it this way. The fig flavor is light but delicious, I think this may be one of my favorite sinister sprites that I have!

Here is a lip swatch of Varney! It pulls quite red on me, but pulls more pink on some. I was hoping it would be slightly more pink on me, but it is still a beautiful color. You can see the slight shimmer, almost a purple one, in this photo as well, but it is more prominent in person.
And finally a quick picture of me wearing Varney! It was a light makeup day, but Varney really upped the look!

Overall I love this subscription so far. Both colors are unique and beautiful, and I am already looking forward to next months! Check out Notoriously Morbid's website to find more information on the subscription, as well as to join the waitlist!

White Raven Apothecary

Hi everyone! Today I am coming at you with a review of a soap shop, White Raven Apothecary! Their products are available on etsy, where their shop name is White Raven Soap Shop.

I will start this off by letting you all know these soaps are not vegan. They all contain goats milk. However, this comes from the goats on the small goat farm that is owned by the owner of White Raven Apothecary. While I typically go for mostly vegan products, I am completely happy to support non-vegan products which are sourced from extremely small family owned farms such as this.

This soap is an almond oatmeal soap. It has little bits of oatmeal inside for exfoliation. It has a beautiful sweet almond smell, without being too strong (I personally find that many times almond scented products can be extremely overpowering). I have been using this soap for about a week now, my skin is super dry from the cold weather and this has not been drying it out more like other soaps do! I also appreciate the light exfoliation that does not irritate my dry skin, this one is a winner for me.

This soap is not a seasonal one, but all of the ones following were from fall/winter collections and may no longer be available.

While the almond oatmeal is the only soap I have used so far, I CAN attest to the beautiful fragrances the rest of the soaps have! This one really smells like you are sticking your head into a pot of apple cider warming on the stove, it brings me back to my favorite season and just makes me so happy!

This one seems to have a lighter fragrance than the rest, it still smells beautiful though! It has a hint of cranberry and fig, and has a definite clean/fruity scent. I would recommend this for those who do not like strongly smelling products.

I included the second picture on this one to show the sparkle in the soap! It is a very subtle but beautiful addition, and I feel it is very fitting to the scent of this soap! It has a light fragrance which is subtly sweet.

Overall I love my experience with this shop so far, the prices are extremely reasonable for a great quality product. I would highly recommend checking out this shop! Currently they do not have an Instagram that I can find, however they do have a Facebook page where you can keep up with new releases and other announcements, under the name White Raven Apothecary.

Maeder Makeup Labs, Skin Graft and Lab Accident

Today I am sharing with you my first purchase from Maeder Makeup Labs! This wonderful company is owned and operated by a nurse, and everything is medical/science themed! (As someone in science, I really appreciate this!).

I purchased a "skin graft" which is what they call their highlighters. This one was an exclusive from their Krampus collection, called "snow globe". It is a glowy white with a slight blue sheen, and I love it! It is buildable to a really blinding highlight (or if used over a sticky base), but a swipe or two gives you a beautiful natural glow. Their skin grafts retail for $13, and I would say are well worth the price.

I also received a "Lab Accident" which are mess ups or experiments that are available for sale on the website. They are all different, and this particular one is a gorgeous blue-silver metallic with glitter mixed in there too! These vary in price depending on the product, so far I have seen eyeshadows and skin grafts in this section.

Here are two different angles of these shades. The lab accident is on top, and Snow Globe is on the bottom. The right side is swatched over Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy, and the left is just on my skin.

Overall I loved the products I received, and am planing on trying the eyeshadows and lip frostings in the near future!

Notoriously Morbid January Color of the Month and Crypt Creation

This month, both the Notoriously Morbid Crypt Creation and the COTM were multichromes!

First up, the January crypt creation. This is called "Great Chemistry" and is a valentines day themes loose multichrome. It is described as "A valentine themed multichrome with a bright pink base that shifts from red to light pink to gold to copper.". I love this shade and think it is perfect for valentines day! However, this NEEDS a sticky base. Swatches will be down below.

I added two angles on this one as I think you need to see both to really appreciate the shade, so gorgeous!

Here is the January color of the month, I am No King. This is an aquaman themed color. It is described as "starts off with an antique gold base that shifts through ranges of silver and teal."I am not sure I really get the silver, but it is beautiful regardless! This is the semi-loose formula, which is why there are those little "balls" in the pictures. I personally enjoy this formula much more than the loose type, I find it gives better payoff and while it looks slightly better with a sticky base, it does not require it to get the multichrome effect like the loose does. Swatches below!

Sticky base used on the right side, no base used on the left. Today the sticky base was Fyrinnae's pixie epoxy. The shifts of multichromes are difficult to capture in pictures, as you need many different light sources to truly get the shift. They are oh so much more beautiful in person!

For those who don't know, these are pigments that have incredible shifts, usually between three and four colors. These are priced higher than their typical shadows, at $10 for a mini, and $15 for a full sized. They are well worth the price!

Overall I love the two colors this month and can see myself using both pretty regularly! The Crypt creation and COTM are always limited edition and only available for that month, so make sure to catch them! They are announced ahead of time in the notoriously morbid Facebook group, called "Notoriously Morbid's customer crypt" and this is also where voting for the Crypt Creation takes place.
